Empowering Bereaved Military Families

About Us
The Army Dependants’ Trust is dedicated to providing vital financial assistance to the families of British Army personnel who have died in service. Most of our funding comes from the donations of serving Army personnel who join us as members. Your support helps ensure that bereaved families receive the help they need.
We offer immediate financial assistance to families following a bereavement - regardless of cause, on or off duty. Typically we grant £20000 in immediate support. Working with the Army's appointed Visiting Officers, or VOs, together with other advisors, we will make an assessment of need in each case and provide our funds accordingly.
After a bereavement, many agencies and charities will look to support families. This is co-ordinated by the Army's Bereavement and Aftercare Service - BAS. Sometimes there are needs that BAS is trying to meet for a family, but there is no funding available. In such cases, BAS can come to ADT to ask for additional grants.
After a bereavement there may be many ways in which support is needed. Perhaps for bereavement counselling, specialist support for children, even financial and employment advice - plus many more. We work with other charities to provide funding for this specialist support.
